RFID chip cards, also known as transponder cards, are laminated plastic cards made from high-quality PVC, equipped with a radio frequency antenna (RFID) inside. The term "RFID" stands for Radio Frequency Identification.
Unlike chip and magnetic stripe cards, reading the data stored on the card does not require direct physical contact with the reader. The data can be read at a distance of up to 10 cm. RFID technology is most commonly used for access control at trade fairs, concerts, ski slopes, airports, and in the form of key and payment cards at hotels, nightclubs, or resorts. Double-sided, high-gloss, colored PVC cards have a card thickness of 0.76 mm (30 mil). With their dimensions (ISO standard) of 86 x 54 mm, they meet the CR-80 credit card size specification.
