How is it printed?
The printing is done using the thermal retransfer process. Unlike in direct printing, here a mirror image of the photo is first printed onto transfer film. The film is then applied directly onto the pvc blank card using a rubber roller. This is also known as laminating.
The most important benefits for the end user are that
the print area doesn't need a border, and the printing technology is much more reliable. This method is especially popular and particularly recommended for printing smart cards (RFID and contact chip) and cards where the surface is uneven. A further benefit: the chip does not come into contact with heat during these processes and does not damage the antenna. Borderless printing, which is not possible with direct printing, allows more printing options.

More information:
Plastic cards are today used in all aspects of life: as an employee ID card at work, as a membership card at the gym, as a gift voucher for retail and much more besides.
The most commonly used is a standard plastic card printed both sides 4/4c. It is tremendously versatile, looks attractive and is also inexpensive to manufacture. But what does "a standard plastic card printed both sides 4/4c" mean, anyway? In the printing trade, the term 4/4c means four-colour printing, also known simply as CMYK after the four primary colours: cyan, magenta, yellow and key (black) - which you probably know from your colour printer at home. Virtually all other colours can be mixed from these colours.
Use conventional four-color printing for any type of plastic cards:
employee badges with a colour photograph of the user, so that no unauthorised person can enter your building. Entry tickets to events, trade exhibitions, conferences and the like, with colour photo, event logo and other elements and much more besides, all in colour. A standard plastic card printed both sides 4/4c can easily reproduce your company logo, your corporate look or just colourful and imaginative lettering. Give it a try!
