The Ultralight chips are the new version of the low-cost MIFARE chip series. The Ultralight has a 7-digit UID and a small 512 bit EEPROM memory. The chip complies with ISO standard 14443 A 1-3 and is backward compatible with the old generation. Advantages of the MIFARE Ultralight C EV1 smart card are the easy integration and the particularly favorable price. Thus, the MIFARE Ultralight chip is recommended for all applications where only the UID is used and so-called one-time applications with a short usage time of the smart card. RFID smart cards, also called transponder cards, are laminated plastic cards made of high quality PVC which are equipped with a radio frequency antenna ( RFID ) inside. In English, the term stands for Radio Frequency Identification.
To read out the data stored on the card, you need, unlike chip and magnetic stripe cards, no direct physical contact with the reader. The readout can take place at a distance of up to 10 cm.
RFID technology is most commonly used in access and entry controls, for example, at trade fairs, concerts, on ski slopes or at airports, and in the form of key and cash cards in hotels, discotheques or leisure resorts. In some places they are already used in public transport, as season tickets or electronic tickets. PVC cards double-sided, high-gloss color, have a card thickness of 0.76 mm ( 30 mil ). Their dimensions meet the ( ISO standard ) standard sizes of 86 x 54 mm and thus meet the criterion of CR-80 credit card size.
