Chips, also known as transponders or tags, are made of polyamide – a highly impact-resistant material – and are equipped with a radio frequency antenna (RFID) inside. The term stands for Radio Frequency Identification in English.
No direct physical contact with the reader is required to read the data stored on the card. Reading can occur at a distance of up to 10 cm.
The RFID technology is most commonly used for access control at trade fairs, concerts, ski resorts, or airports, as well as in the form of key cards and payment cards in hotels, clubs, or leisure resorts. In some places, they are also used in public transportation, subscription cards, or electronic tickets.
